MANUAL TORQUE WRENCHES

About Manual Torque Wrenches

This type of torque wrench can be separated into two classes: Production applications and Audit Applications. From there they are further defined as mechanical “click” type and digital(transducer) wrenches. In today’s market, our customers strive to achieve “zero” product defects during the manufacturing process. A preset manual torque wrench used to assemble a product can be a cost-effective solution compared to more sophisticated torque measuring/control alternatives. This brings us to the new era of production and audit wrenches capable of delivering the same accuracy and documentation transducerized assembly tool systems.

Benefits of Cordless Hand Tools

Inherent in all torque wrenches is a mechanical component that either measures torque applied or stops torque applied at a preset torque. Some of our customers tighten or re-tighten the bolt or screw with a mechanical click-wrench. When the wrench “clicks” we are to assume the desired torque has been reached. This method provides just a OK – Not OK result, not measuring (and not tracing), the value of the applied or residual torque (How much of the preload applied is left inside the joint). In addition, when using a click-wrench, there is always the risk of producing an over tightening during this operation. The new generation of production torque wrenches are digital and incorporate two advanced technologies to both control and record torque applied in your process. This greatly improves product quality and process control, delivering the manufacturing engineer product assembly data and error proofing capabilities that in the past did not exist without postproduction audits tools.A digital mechanical click wrench is pre-set at a particular torque value. When that value is reached, the wrench’s control system is activated, and the operator hears and feels a clicking sound. When the click occurs, a digital signal is sent wirelessly to a control box for data collection and alerts the operator of a pass/fail condition. The “go” and “no-go” response signal facilitates quick and confident assembly. An angle measurement capable digital torque wrench measures degree of rotation and allows for a toque monitor/angle control strategy in the assembly process. As the target angle is reached the operator will feel a vibration and an audible tone from the tool which signals completion of the assembly process. The smart wrench then sends each cycle to a data base or control system providing both error proofing and documentation of a products assembly process.
